To die

What a beautiful way to die,
On these sands where footsteps vanish,
Boundless ocean and recurring waves,
Water with it's tales of centuries gone by,
Nothing here is ours, nobody you can claim,
We're wandering souls just passing by,
All is transient but you should try,
Hold them close and set them free,
If they find their way back to you,
They're yours forever to keep,
And everyday the sea spits back,
Memories of lifetimes past,
Promises of another, stuck in time,
But they always find their way back,
To someone else sinking their toes in the sand,
Wishes of a dying man,
The questions of a lost traveller,
When nobody knows your name,
The seas will tide you over time,
And here at the end of the line,
All the mistakes that'll go with me,
People I would protect with my last breath,
And the ones that I couldn't,
As waves turn to water,
You must set them free,
And find your way back home,
Love with everything your heart can hold,
And then some more,
People are all we've got,
And we deserve to die loved,
The waves will always return to the shore,
Taking away some and leaving behind more.
