Tulips

Stumbled on a field of tulips, you
the tallest bloom of the season,
they asked me where I found you,
If only I had a clue,
they presumed me a liar,
keeping my secrets,
but would they believe the truth,
that you found me,
while I was jumping puddles,
in love with the rain,
this water I’d spent years afraid of,
drenched in mud and happiness,
finally stopping to smell the flowers,
to smile at your face,
I would like to drown, in you
in everything you stand for,
I’d like to fall, into a puddle
without questioning the strength of your arms,
or the possibility of falling alone,
I am aware of my tendency to spin tales
out of simple words,
the curse of the romantic poet,
let me show you what we can be,
come take a walk with me.
